Newsletter: Welcome to the new SHIVAG website 25/07/2007 15:58:13

Plain-text Body:
Dear SHIVAG member,

I’m writing to you to let you know that the new interactive SHIVAG website is now available at www.shivag.co.uk

The website has been revamped and has a number of new features:

·   Global HIV and AIDS headlines from the world’s media, updated every few hours
·   The ability for members to post notices, and upload documents and links of interest to other members
·   Members can add comments to indicate how interesting or useful they found them!
Plus all the features you were used to on the old site including
·   Useful links
·   Discussion forum
(At the moment, messages in the discussion forum are not sent out automatically to members, unlike with the previous site.)

Most importantly the website now holds the SHIVAG mailing list, and you can edit your own address and job details on line. It’s important to keep these up to date, especially your email address, because that is how you will hear about SHIVAG meetings etc.

I’ve preregistered you with the following details:

Username: <% UserName %>
Password <% Password %>

Please take a moment to log on. You can check your mailing list details by clicking on the link in the top right of the screen – you can also change your password there. The site is designed with medium security, so I suggest that you do not use the same password as you use for your bank account!

Please contribute to the site by
·   Uploading your documents and links - it’s easy to do and instructions are there at every stage.
·   Starting some discussion on the discussion board
·   Rating the contributions of others

I’m sure there will be bugs in the software – if you try to access a feature and it doesn’t work, if you can’t access the site, or if you find you can access features you probably shouldn’t (like my bank account!) let me know – there’s a Contact link in the main menu.

If you have colleagues who are not yet registered, please encourage them to join – they can do this in a few moments on-line by following the link to “Create an account”.
In the future I hope that we will use the website to allow members to register for the annual meeting, and I would like to make the mailing list available to all members on line. Would you be happy to have your name and work address visible on-line  - what safeguards would you want before we allowed that? Let me know by contributing to the discussion forum, or contact me directly via the site.

The future of HIV care in Scotland depends on cooperation and networking, and I hope you’ll find www.shivag.co.uk a useful tool

Best wishes
David Wilks
